Inside the final hours of Ron DeSantis' ill-fated campaign

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — According to a source familiar with the discussions, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called a few of his closest advisors to the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee on Sunday morning for a farewell talk over the future of his presidential campaign.

After that, DeSantis and his spouse, Casey, departed from the advisors to have a private discussion in the home located above. They concluded that he would end a campaign that had no viable way to proceed. When they reached the advisers again, DeSantis had already jotted down some lines that would be used in his declaration that he was suspending the campaign.
